These Boots Were Made For Exploring
High on the list of ways to discover the coastline of Italy is a self-guided walking tour. It offers the perfect mix of independence and flexibility so you’re free to explore the sights at your own pace, stop whenever you like and however many times you like, and yet your accommodation’s fully booked for you so you have a place to rest at the end of each day.
Plus when you discover on foot Mount Vesuvius, the island of Capri and the Amalfi Coast, you really have the time to savor the sights, smell, sounds and experience of Italy. It’s eight days of a wonderful combination of ancient history, culture and sheer beauty.
A few of the unforgettable highlights you can expect along the way:
Climbing Mount Vesuvius
Be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view over the Bay of Naples. Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe, and has produced some of the continent’s largest volcanic eruptions. It’s most famous for the 79 AD eruption which destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Exploring Capri
So much beauty in such a small island. From designer boutiques, cafes, tiny squares and alleyways all the way through to its famous blue grotto.
The Path of the Gods
Stretching from Bomerano to Positano along the Amalfi coast, it’s a truly spectacular route. In reward for your effort, you’ll get dramatic views along the mountain path and over the sea before a descent down a stone staircase that leads you to the centre of Positano.
Fjord of Furore
The walk from Agerola to Furore alone is a trail of discovery of tiny chapels and hidden caves. The best bit is reaching the fjord where it looks like the sea has cut through the mountains and formed a small bay where a rainbow of fishermen’s boats rest.
