Vientiane Half Day Tour to the Buddha Park
Start Time: 09:00am
Duration: 3 Hrs

Spend a relaxing half day exploring Vientiane’s Buddha Park located 25 kms southeast of the city. Built in 1958, the park is a fanciful sculpture garden containing more than 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues including a quirky giant concrete pumpkin with a three level interior representing Hell, Earth and Heaven. Enter through the mouth of a 3 metre tall demon head and climb the staircases from Hell to Heaven. View sculptures on each level with a panoramic viewpoint at the very top level. Stroll around the park to observe the many concrete sculptures scattered throughout including characters from Hindu mythology, as well as animals, humans and demons. Most are larger than life and carved with intricate and often bizarre details. We will then return you back to your hotel.

Half Day Landmarks of Vientiane Tour
Start Time: 12:00pm
Duration: 4 Hrs

Spend a half day visiting some of Vientiane’s most significant landmarks. A world apart from other frantic Asian capitals, Vientiane retains a quiet and pleasant aura. Visit some of the city’s most notable Temples or Wats, including the Wat Sisaket, the only Temple left intact after the Siamese invasion of 1828 and famous for its cloister wall housing thousands of tiny Buddha images, Wat Ho Phra Keo, now a museum adorned with carved wooden features, a magnificent 16th Century lacquered door with Hindu carvings, numerous Khmer stone carvings and a variety of Buddha statues and the popular Wat Si Muang with its carved gold pillars, brightly coloured ceiling friezes and painted scenes from the life of the Buddha. We will also visit the Arc de Triomphe like Patuxai Victory Monument, a war monument dedicated to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. Notice the typically Laotian elements including the half woman half bird mythological creatures, which adorn the monument. End the tour with a visit to Pha That Luang, a large gold covered Buddhist stupa in the centre of Vientiane, generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos. We then return you back to your hotel.

Cold Towels and Water will be supplied during the tour.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met and transferred to the Airport for your onward journey or departure flight home.

Rice Farm by Tuk Tuk

The farm is run by a non-government organisation using traditional farming methods, a perfect place to try your hand at rice farming, which is common in both Laos and its neighbouring countries. The friendly farmers will show you how to get your feet wet planting rice seedlings or if it’s the harvest season, you will get to cut and thresh your own rice for lunch! Travel to a nearby spot for fishing, collect fresh duck eggs, learn about organic fertiliser and how it is made, and harvest fresh seasonal organic vegetables and bamboo. At the end of the day you will cook them up and enjoy a traditional lunch with the day’s harvest.

Travel Advice for New Year:
If the dates of travel fall during Pi Mai Lao, the Lao New Year (Apr 14 – 16, 2022), many shops and businesses are closed during this period or may operate on a limited schedule although most restaurants remain open. As it is a tradition to splash water on each other to bring good luck during this period, travellers should take care of their phones, cameras and laptops. Additionally, travel times might need to be adjusted during this period as some festivals are held in the streets and cause small delays.
