Angkor Thom Half Day Tour
Start Time: 08:00am or 13:00pm
Duration: 4 Hrs

Today, enjoy a visit to Angkor Thom, the ancient royal city of Khmer Empire with its centrepiece, the Bayon Temple. As you approach, you will notice the enigmatic faces of former King Jayavarman VII facing in every direction. Your guide will take you to the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform from where the King could welcome back his victorious army and the Terrace of the Leper King, which holds detailed carvings winding along a narrow passage way that leads to the Baphuon Complex.

Siem Reap Half Day Tour
Departure: 08:00am or 13:30pm
Duration: 4 Hrs

Enjoy a visit to Ta Prohm Temple, one of Angkor’s jewels, which is now overgrown with fig trees and lush jungle, giving a haunting yet exotic atmosphere. The magnificent roots of the trees have merged over the centuries with the temple’s huge stone blocks, emphasizing a “forgotten city” feeling. The Temple was built by King Jayavarman VII to commemorate his mother. Take your time to walk through the Temple from the East entrance to the West entrance (this walk is approximately 1-2 kms) where your vehicle will await you.

Cold Towels and Water will be supplied during the tour.

Description:

After breakfast at your hotel, the morning will be free for you to explore on your own.

Banteay Kdei & Sunset Boat at Angkor Thom
Start Time: 14:00pm
Duration: 3-4 Hrs

This afternoon, your guide will come to whisk you away for an afternoon of exploration. Depart by Tuk Tuk and head to Banteay Kdei, less visited than the other temples and yet very impressive. Spot the rare Buddha statue that survived Jayavarman VIII’s Hindu reaction and lose yourself in this peaceful compound. Take your time and immerse yourself in the atmosphere.

Rejoin your transportation and make your way to your VIP boat, which awaits you on the moat of Angkor Thom. Board the Gondola Boat and sit back and relax as the expert staff who will guide you around the moat. There will be a selection of local beer and soft drinks available on board. Majestically navigate the still waters and view the little known Temple Prasat Chrung, or the "Corner Temple". Here you can climb up the steep iron staircase and visit this tiny yet beautiful temple, while marvelling at the views of the Sunset over the horizon.

Cold Towels and Water will be supplied during the tour.

Description:

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met and transferred to the Airport for your onward journey or departure flight home.

Personal Stories from a Pol Pot Survivor

The period from 1975 to 1979 brought to Cambodia an incredibly dark time with years of genocide led by the country’s own leaders. Resulting in the deaths of around two million people, nearly a quarter of the country’s then population were eliminated. With an aim to return to an agrarian society, the Khmer Rouge began killing the country’s educated and elite. With perhaps half of those deaths being due to executions, the rest died from starvation and disease as the regime reined. Meet with a local family and hear their account of survival and overcoming life before and after the Khmer Rouge period, also known as the Pol Pot Regime. Their incredibly powerful story is one of adversity, a fight for survival, of tragedy for friends and family, and the fight for the peace and happiness the family is now able to embrace today.

A Well Donation for a Better Life

One of the most pressing issues facing rural villagers in Siem Reap is the lack of access to clean water. The underlying goal of this philanthropic work is to transform the lives of poor Cambodians by providing safe and clean water through our efforts. Travelling to the most underprivileged, yet stunning rural countryside, you will officially declare the water pump ready for use, adding the finishing touches to the work already created on behalf of your generous donation. You will be welcomed by a small gathering to commemorate this incredible occasion, and a plaque with your name will stand at the site of the water pump, out of respect for the kindness you’ve shown to this local community. This is a touching way to leave behind something meaningful during your visit to Cambodia, as you return home knowing you’ve bettered the lives of the individuals who have shared their way of life with you.

A Taste of Buddhism

Embark on a beautiful journey through rice paddies and red soil roads, cutting a trail into the serene forests around Siem Reap to see how the real heart of Cambodian beats. Cycle around a local rural village, ride along with the ox carts and pass by countryside wooden houses. Stop by their market for some sweet treats and visit a beautiful and iconic Buddhist pagoda known locally as the most sacred and intricately decorated within the region. Spend some time to admire the colourful decoration, the internal shrine with adornments of gold and the surrounding cemetery, which is interesting in its own right. While at the pagoda, you will be blessed by the monks in a private ceremony wishing for your health and happiness.

Visa Requirements:
A tourist visa should be obtained in advance. It is not possible to get Visa upon arrival.
Please ensure your passport is valid more than 6 months from the date of return for every country you are visiting. Please also ensure there is sufficient space in your passport to allow for all immigration procedures, taking note that some South East Asian countries take up a full page for the visa sticker and need yet more space on a separate page for entry and exit stamps.
Please contact Europe Holidays for any visa service or guidance. Please note the following general information is subject to change concerning visas.

Trip and Travel Insurance:
The tour price does not include personal insurance. Travellers are highly recommended to purchase Travel Insurance upon commitment of the booking. Europe Holidays can assist with all your travel requirements.

Travel Advice for New Year:
The dates of travel for this booking fall during Chaul Chnam Thmey, the Cambodian New Year (Apr 13 – 17, 2022).
In Cambodia, many shops, restaurants and businesses are closed during this period or may operate on a limited schedule. Departing Phnom Penh or Siem Reap by road may be difficult during this period since many locals will travel over the holiday as well.
Flying between cities should be fine, although please allow for some delays and more traffic than usual. Local attractions in the countryside in and around Phnom Penh will be crowded with domestic visitors, who usually travel with their entire family. It is recommended that during the Khmer New Year period, smaller local attractions like streams, waterfalls and parks are avoided as they will be very overcrowded with locals on holiday.
