Upon arrival into Svalbard, you will be transferred to the hotel for check-in. Later, you will depart on a Longyearbyen in a Nutshell Guided Tour (Duration: 2 Hrs). Enjoy a Guided Taxi Tour around Longyearbyen, which offers a good dose of local knowledge, an overview of the various attractions and, most importantly, an introduction to the general history of Svalbard. The tour takes you past local Mines, Research areas, the Town Centre, the Church and near the Svalbard Global Seed Vault (150 metres away). Along the way, there will be stops for photography, allowing you to capture the unique surroundings. Wildlife varies with the seasons, and during the Polar Night, you might be lucky enough to witness the magical Northern Lights dancing across the sky. The driving route may be adjusted in case of closed roads or bad weather. Tonight, enjoy a 4 course gourmet dinner with wine pairing at Funktionærmessen Restaurant. Located in the Funken Lodge hotel, this restaurant provides a fine dining experience that is unmatched in Longyearbyen. After breakfast, the morning is free at leisure. Later this afternoon, enjoy a Northern Lights Safari by Electric Snowmobile (Duration: 3 Hrs). A Northern Lights hunt on an electric snowmobile is exotic and at the same time convenient because we are close to Longyearbyen. Outside Town and its artificial light pollution, chances are good to get a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Your Guide will pick you up at the hotel and drive you to our expedition centre. Here, you will get equipped with a scooter dress, boots, balaclava, helmet and mittens, before we go to the scooters that are waiting for us outside. The Guide will show you how the scooter works and how to drive it, then it's time to head out into the dark wilderness! This is a perfect tour if you want to get a taste of scooter riding without driving a full day. The route is relatively short (30 km) and we drive in easy, mostly flat terrain. The journey goes into Adventdalen (the Advent Valley), in search of Northern Lights. The electric snowmobile is easy to manoeuvre and comfortable to drive and the absence of motor noise provides comfort and the opportunity to get closer to nature and wildlife without disturbing anything. After a nice break with warm drinks and some biscuits, it's time to head back to Longyearbyen. Tonight, enjoy a 6 course Dinner with Wine pairing at Camp Barentz (Willem’s Cabin or similar). With a private chef and host, an unforgettable evening awaits. Enjoy local produce with perfectly composed wines, while you get to learn more about the discovery of Svalbard. Enjoy breakfast at hotel followed by a day at leisure to relax or explore on your own. Later, enjoy Dog Sledding in the Polar Night (Duration: 4 Hrs). In November, the polar night descends over Svalbard. Some years the snow comes early and we can go out with dog sleds. Other years we have to wait a bit before we have enough snow. Then we will use carts on wheels instead. Regardless of the amount of snow, the huskies need exercise every day and going on tour into the mysterious polar night is a fantastic experience for both dogs and humans! Your Guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the kennel, which is located approximately 10 kilometres outside the town. Here you will get to borrow warm clothes (overall, boots, hat, gloves and buff) and meet our happy furry friends. If there is enough snow, we go by sled into one of the surrounding valleys. If we lack enough snow, the trip goes by cart on wheels in the majestic Adventdalen (the Advent Valley). The polar night lasts from November to January and offers the perfect setting for Northern Lights spotting. In this period, Svalbard is actually the only place in the world where you have the chance to see Northern Lights also during the day! In the valleys, there is less light pollution than in the town and the chances of seeing them are greater. Regardless of Northern Lights or not, the huskies will be overjoyed to get out and run in the wild with you. After the tour, you can look forward to cuddling with our lovely puppies and warm yourself with waffles in the cosy cabin. Meals: Breakfast
Breakfast at hotel. Today, enjoy a Northern Lights Safari by Snowcat (Duration: 2 Hrs 30 Mins). Take the whole family along and join us on an exciting snowcat trip as we hunt for the Northern Lights. This is the perfect tour for you who wish to leave town in a safe and comfortable way. The tour is not physically demanding and is also suitable for children. The snowcat is impossible to miss when it arrives to pick you up. However, as soon as you have exchanged the town for the wilderness, the vehicle will seem very small compared to the wilderness. Your guide will drive you out of Town, away from the artificial lights and into the mysterious, dark wild. The route goes over the frozen Adventdalen (Advent Valley), where you will make several stops to look for the Northern Lights. During the drive, you will sit comfortably in the heated snowcat. However, we advise you to dress warmly so you can step outside and enjoy the stops we make along the way. Although we cannot guarantee that we will see the northern lights on this trip, it's still a special experience to get out of the city, experience the silence in the mighty valley and feel the power of Svalbard's nature. Tonight, enjoy a Gourmet Dinner at Huset Restaurant, a unique dining experience in one of the most iconic buildings in Longyearbyen. The building has served many purposes throughout the years, such as a Church, School and even as a temporary Hospital. Today, it is home to Huset Restaurant. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
