After breakfast, drive by minibus to the Pyramid field of Giza. Here, we will see the three most famous Pyramids of Cheops, Chefren and Mykarinos. Those who wish, can climb inside a Pyramid. Around the Pyramids are the Tombs of the high officials and members of the Royal Family. We visit the Valley Temple of Pharaoh Chefren and the Sphinx. After some free time for lunch, we visit the Grand Egyptian Museum. The largest Archaeological Museum Complex in the world, housing more than 100,000 artifacts. For the first time, the entire treasure collection of King Tut is on display alongside artifacts from prehistoric times through the many thousands of years of Egypt's Pharaonic Civilization to the more modern Ancient Greek and Roman periods of Egyptian history. Our tour ends in one of the oldest streets in Egypt, El Moez Le Din Allah Street. This street is a witness of historical Cairo with various monuments spread on both sides of the street. You will also visit the Khan EL Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in Egypt. Colourful cloths, silver and goldware, carvings, clothing, spices, shoes, dried fruit, water pipes, household goods and perfume oils, there is almost nothing you can't buy here. Today, we will drive by off road vehicle to the Oasis of Bahariya. In Bawiti, visit the small Museum where some of the 'Golden Mummies' can be seen, as well as the Tomb of Panentiu and his Father at Qaret Selim. After some free time for lunch, we drive across the fields of Qasaa to our nearby Camel Farm, where you can experience the good natured black Camels of Bahariya up close. Afterwards, a short drive takes us to Gebel Dist and Maghrafa, the 'Pot Mountain' and 'Ladle Mountain', landmarks of the area. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Depart through the desert this morning, past Bir Matar to the Southwest; the Bir Matar well (Airport well) was a heliport during the Second World War. The lesser known rock formations of the Black Desert are located here. Shattered Granite Massifs are covered in light coloured drifting sand, most picturesquely seen at Gebel Marsus. From the Black Desert, the route continues south to the El Heiz depression, one of the small oases that form Bahariya. El Heiz was inhabited in Greco-Roman times. During the heyday of Coptic Christianity, there was a Church here, an impressive Monastery Complex and numerous houses and farm buildings. The remains of a Qasr or Watchtower indicate a Military Garrison. From El Heiz it is only a short distance to the famous White Desert. Limestone formations carved by the wind appear as animal figures or Mushrooms and give the landscape the appearance of a Glacier. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor (flight under own arrangements). Upon arrival in Luxor, you will be met and transferred to your Dahabiya for embarkation. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay onboard. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Today, we have the opportunity for an optional Balloon Ride over Luxor to watch the sunrise. After breakfast onboard the Dahabiya, we visit the West Bank. The Valley of the Kings is home to the Tombs of the rulers of the New Kingdom (ca. 1550 - 1069 B.C.) in particular and visit three Tombs. We then visit the Terrace Temple of Hatshepsut. We end the excursion with a stop at the Colossi of Memnon. We return to our Dahabiya at midday. We enjoy lunch while sailing to Esna. In the late afternoon, we continue through the lock to Higz Island. Dinner and overnight onboard. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Enjoy breakfast on the deck as we sail to Edfu. We take carriages to the Temple District of Horus. The Temple is certainly one of the most impressive monuments on the Banks of the Nile. Today, the Temple is the largest and best preserved Temple in Egypt. It was built in the Greco-Roman period and exhibits classic features of Egyptian architecture. Two elegant black Granite Statues of Horus flank the entrance to the Pylon, which leads to a wide colonnade and the first hypostyle hall. We sail further South. In Kom Ombo, we visit the double sanctuary of the Crocodile God Sobek and the Falcon God Haroäris. A double sanctuary with symmetrical architecture in which each half is dedicated to the respective God. We reach Aswan in the early evening. Dinner and overnight stay onboard. After breakfast, the morning is at leisure. There is an optional bus trip to Abu Simbel to visit to the famous rock Temples. The Great Temple of Ramses II was moved more than 60 metres higher due to the rising waters of the Nasser Reservoir. Its longitudinal axis is precisely aligned with the sunrise, twice a year the sun's rays fall exactly into the Temple's Holy of Holies. Return to your Dahabiya. The rest of the day is at leisure. In the morning, we visit the Temple of Isis on the Island of Philae. The Temple Complex was built in the Ptolemaic period. Enjoy lunch while sailing to Kom Ombo. Dinner and overnight onboard. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
At sunrise, we sail back towards Luxor. In the afternoon we moor at the Village of Ramadi. Enjoy a walk in the Village and visit a family. Afterwards, we continue sailing to Esna. Overnight stay onboard. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
In the morning, enjoy breakfast on deck as we sail the last stretch to Luxor. In the afternoon, we visit the extensive Temple Complexes of Karnak and the Luxor Temple. The largest Temple Complex in Egypt has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979, together with the Luxor Temple and the Theban Necropolis. The afternoon is at leisure. In the evening, we bid farewell to the crew with a Festive Evening of Folklore. Dinner and overnight stay onboard. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
