Upon arrival, you will be met by your Tour Director at Madrid Airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. This morning, enjoy a panoramic city tour that will take us through Madrid's Medieval origins including the Arab Fortress and the Barrio de la Moreria, which is known for its ancient buildings and traditional taverns. We will explore the district of the Hapsburgs, characterised by Phillip II and its Renaissance and Baroque buildings at Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa. We will see the Madrid of the Bourbons and the urban planning of Charles III, including the Royal Palace, the Cibeles Fountain, the Neptune Fountain and the Puerta de Alcalá. We will admire 19th Century landmarks such as the elegant Plaza de Oriente and the Prado Museum. We will also get to know contemporary Madrid with avenues like Gran Vía, Paseo de la Castellana, the Salamanca neighbourhood, Parque del Oeste, the commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid and the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. After breakfast, we will depart towards Zaragoza. There will be some free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of The Pilar, Patroness of Hispanity and stroll through the old streets of Zaragoza. In the afternoon, we will continue to San Sebastián, which is known as one of the most famous tourist destinations and where they hold the International Film Festival. This morning after breakfast, enjoy a panoramic tour of this elegant and gentrified city whose landscape is dominated by the Bay and La Concha Beach. We will head up Mount Igueldo, where we can contemplate the magnificent city view. The rest of the day is free at leisure. In the afternoon, there is the possibility of an optional visit to the picturesque villages of Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, already in French Territory. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, we depart for Bilbao for some free time on the Esplanade of the Guggenheim Museum to admire this modern work of architecture. Afterwards, we will continue towards Castro Urdiales, a typical fishing village where we will have some free time to explore. We will depart to Santander, a Port city nestled between the sea and the mountains with numerous beaches including El Sardinero, which is one of the best known. Afterwards, you will have free time to walk around this elegant city. Overnight stay in Santander. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, we head to Santillana del Mar, which is one of the towns with the greatest historical and artistic value in Spain. Santillana del Mar houses true architectural treasures such as the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana and the most important Romanesque Jewel in Cantabria. We will then continue to Covadonga, where we will have free time to visit the Sanctuary and the Grotto with the image of the Virgin. In the afternoon, we depart to Oviedo, located on a series of hills at the foot of the Naranco, which stands out for the beauty of its streets many of them pedestrian. Its monuments are a World Heritage Site and among them the Cathedral stands out as one of the most important works of Asturian Gothic. Overnight stay in Oviedo. Meals: Breakfast
This morning after breakfast, we will depart towards the Galician Region. On the way to Lugo, we stop in Mondoñedo where you will have some free time to visit its imposing 12th Century Cathedral and try the delicious 'Mondoñedo Cake'. Afterwards, we depart to Lugo and enjoy some free time to contemplate the Roman vestiges that still conserves as its walls and is a declared a World Heritage Site. We then continue on to Santiago de Compostela, whose Ancient City is a World Heritage Site and one of the most important monumental centres in Spain. Santiago de Compostela is the centre of Christian Pilgrimage and the end of the Camino de Santiago, originally built by the Roman Empire. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Santiago de Compostela visiting the Plaza del Obradoiro and its Cathedral (entrance included) dedicated to the Apostle Santiago el Mayor. The rest of the day is at leisure to continue visiting this city with a University and student atmosphere. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, we depart towards Salamanca. Upon arrival, enjoy some free time in this University City, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known for its rich architectural and artistic heritage. Overnight in Salamanca. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy some free time before we depart towards the Portuguese border until we reach Porto. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Meals: Breakfast
Today, enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour of Porto, which is considered a World Heritage City. Admire the Cathedral, Stock Exchange building and Santa Clara church. Afterwards, enjoy a different perspective of the city along the Douro River and discover the historic heritage by visiting one well known Port Wine Cellar for a Wine tasting. After breakfast, we travel to Coimbra. The city that hosts one of the oldest Universities in Europe and the cradle of Fado. Enjoy some free time at leisure before we continue to Fátima to visit the Centre of the Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Sanctuary with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria, place where the Virgin Mary appeared. Visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the heart of the Sanctuary with the Tombs of the three Shepherds Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. Tonight, there is the possibility to attend the Candlelight Procession. Overnight stay in Fátima. Meals: Breakfast
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing to the Batalha Monastery, which is a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage Place by UNESCO. Afterwards, we continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré. Enjoy some free time before continuing to Alcobaça, with its Gothic Church and Cistercian Monastery, whose origins date back to the XII C. Afterwards, continue to Lisbon, the Portuguese Capital. After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Lisbon, formerly known as Olissipo, including its Main Squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimo's Monastery (exterior) and the Monument to the Discoverers. The afternoon is free to explore the city’s charming corners such as the Alfama District or take the optional excursion to Sintra and Cascais (World Heritage Sites). Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, depart towards Merida, a World Heritage City. Merida, the Capital of Extremadura, is known for its rich historical heritage including its well preserved Roman ruins, the Theatre, the Amphitheatre, the Roman Bridge and more.
