After breakfast this morning, we depart to Syracuse to visit the World Heritage Site 'Neapolis'. You visit of this Archaeological area includes the famous Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Latomia of Paradise and the 'Dionysius Ear'. Afterwards, we continue to the Island of Ortigia, the small Baroque Old City Centre of Syracuse. Here, we will visit the beautiful Cathedral, which is built upon the site of the Doric Temple of Minerva, the legendary Arethusa’s Fountain and the Temple of Apollo. We will also enjoy a 'street food' light lunch in the centre of Ortigia. The afternoon is free at leisure to stroll through the streets of the centre and for shopping. Afterwards, we return to the hotel in Catania where the evening is free to experience the city and its nightlife and to dine in one of the typical restaurant in the city centre. After breakfast, we depart on a nice walk in Catania, strolling through the city centre and visiting the famous Fish Market 'A Piscaria', which is one of the largest Fish Markets in Sicily. As old as the city itself, it’s a great way to experience the abundant fishing and Seafood culture of Sicily with a very special and authentic atmosphere. Afterwards, we depart to Ragusa, which is renowned for its Cheese production. Enjoy a tasting of artisan Cheeses and Sicilian specialties (light lunch). We will then visit the enchanting historical centre 'Ibla' on a panoramic tour by 'Baroque Train'. Admire the stunning Baroque Palaces and Churches. Together with seven other cities in the Val di Noto, Ragusa is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will then continue to the hotel where you will have free time at leisure to relax at the swimming pool or at the Spa. Tonight, dinner is in the hotel. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This morning, we depart to Agrigento, which is a hillside town famous for its magnificent Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, we will visit the Valley including the Temple of Concordia, which is almost perfectly preserved condition, as well as the Temples of Juno and Heracles. Enjoy free time at leisure for lunch before we depart this afternoon to Marsala, a city on the western coast famous for its production of sweet Sicilian Wine. We arrive at Baglio Donnafranca, which is a perfectly restored 19th Century Baglio that rises in the Marsala countryside on the hills in front of the Egadi Islands. The Baglio was a property of the Florio Family. Here, we will have the opportunity to visit the Cellar and learn all about Wine making. At the end of the tour, we will enjoy a Wine tasting and light dinner at sunset. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
After breakfast, we depart to Erice via the spectacular 'Salt Route', which is a road flanked by the salt pans, windmills and the 'salt houses' where they still extract the sea salt as the Phoenicians. Upon arrival in Erice, which is placed on the top of a hill overlooking the city of Trapani and the Egadi Islands, enjoy a walk through its tiny and characteristic streets, the winding lanes and inner courtyards and stop for a Biscuit tasting. Afterwards, we depart for Monreale with a stop along the way for a light lunch with local specialties. Monreale is situated on a hill a few kilometres from Palermo in panoramic position. Here, visit of the Cathedral, which is one of the most beautiful monuments in the world with its Moorish architecture that houses fine mosaics representing a complete cycle of the Old and New Testaments in Arab-Norman style. Afterwards, we will continue to Palermo. The remainder of the day is free at leisure for shopping and dinner. Meals: Breakfast
Today after breakfast, we depart on a walking tour of Palermo, which is the Capital of Sicily. We will start our visit by walking along Corso Vittorio Emanuele to reach 'I Quattro Canti di Città' Piazza Pretoria and Piazza Bellini. We will then visit the Cathedral, which is one of the most important architectural monuments before heading to the most famous and historical Markets in Palermo to experience the authenticity of this wonderful and colourful city. Afterwards, we continue to Cefalù, which is a former fishing village now a charming coastal town. Enjoy a walk to the city centre and down main street to reach the Arab-Norman Cathedral and the Medieval Washhouse built in the rock. Free time at leisure to explore the town, shop and have lunch on your own. Afterwards, we proceed to Taormina through the coastal road passing through Messina from where we’ll have the chance to admire the suggestive scenery of the Strait of Messina. Tonight, you will have free time at for dinner. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, enjoy an excursion to Mount Etna, which is the highest active Volcano in Europe. We will reach a heights of 1,800 metres to visit the Sylvester Craters where we will enjoy a spectacular panorama over the Ionian Sea. Stop at a local Winery on the eastern slopes of Etna and visit a prestigious Cellar. We will have the opportunity to taste different local Wines accompanied by local Cheese and cold cuts. In the afternoon we head back to Taormina, which is charming city called 'the pearl of the Ionian Sea'. Enjoy time at leisure for shopping or walking through its tiny streets. There is the possibility to visit the Greek-Roman Theatre on your own. Free time for dinner. Meals: Breakfast
Today, we depart Taormina to Milazzo to board at the Port of Milazzo for Lipari by Hydrofoil (no guide included). Upon arrival on the Island of Lipari, which is the largest of the Aeolian Archipelago, we will transfer to the hotel. Enjoy free time to visit the delightful village of Lipari before having lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we take a taxi tour of the Island of Lipari. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon free for dinner. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast, the morning is free at leisure to explore and have lunch on your own. In the late morning, we will depart by boat to Panarea and Stromboli. Our first stop is Panarea where you will visit the small village and take a pleasant walk along the streets among the white Aeolian style houses. Afterwards, we continue with the boat to Stromboli, which is the island defined as the wildest island because it seems to preserve its bond with nature and in particular with the Volcano called by the locals 'Iddu'. Enjoy free time to explore. Once you get back on the boat, we will continue until we reach the 'Sciara del Fuoco', which is a ridge of the crater where the Lava descends. From the boat it will also be possible to witness the evocative eruptions of the Volcano that follow one another with intervals of about 15 minutes. We will return to Lipari in the evening with free time for dinner. Meals: Breakfast
Enjoy breakfast in hotel before departing by boat for Salina. After a stop in the centre of S. Marina, we will continue by boat to circumnavigate the island and swim in Pollara, the beach of the famous film 'Il Postino'. Enjoy some free time for lunch before we continue to Lingua where there is a salt lake where salt was extracted in ancient times (hence the name of the island). Afterwards, we will return to Lipari in the afternoon. Enjoy the afternoon free at leisure for shopping and dinner. Meals: Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to the Port of Lipari to board the Hydrofoil for Milazzo. Afterwards we arrive in Milazzo and will transfer to the hotel in Catania for our overnight stay. Enjoy lunch on your own and the afternoon free at leisure to visit of the historic centre of Catania.
