Upon arrival at Athens Airport, you will be welcomed by an assistant and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay in Athens.
Today, is dedicated to exploring the City of Athens. We begin with a panoramic tour to the most important monuments and landmarks of the city including the Panathinaikos Stadium, the Zappeion, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, Syntagma Square, the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown soldier, Schliemann's House, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and the Old Parliament. Afterwards, we head for a guided visit to the Acropolis, as well as the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion. Later, we continue with a guided visit to the Acropolis Museum, which was voted one of the best museums in the world. After breakfast at the hotel, we depart towards the Peloponnese. Our first stop will be at the impressive Corinth Canal before continuing to Epidaurus to visit its theatre, famous for its acoustics. We then continue to Nafplion for a shortstop before visiting Mycenae, 'rich in gold' as Homer mentions, with the Cyclopean Walls and the Tomb of Agamemnon with the famous Lion's Gate. This afternoon, we will cross the mountains of the Peloponnese arriving in Olympia for dinner and our overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Built on the banks of the River Alfeios, Olympia is beautiful, green, and placid. Today, enjoy a tour through the remains of the Ancient Olympia Complex (home of the original Olympic Games), including the Temple of Zeus, the Palaestra, and Phidias's Workshop. Afterwards, we will continue to the local museum, which is one of the richest in Greece, to see the impressive Statue of Hermes of Praxiteles. This afternoon, we will start heading north, driving around Patras, over the impressive Rio-Antirrio Bridge, through Nafpaktos and Itea, to Delphi for dinner and our overnight stay. Delphi used to be the most sacred spot in the world and a pilgrimage centre for many centuries in the antiquity. Today, admire the Sanctuary of Apollo, walk the Sacred Way, and visit the Temple of Apollo, which was home of Pythia (the Oracle). Afterwards, we continue to the local museum with the famous Bronze Statue of the Charioteer. This afternoon, we depart Delphi and continue along the road back to Athens for our overnight stay. This morning, we will be transferred to the Port of Piraeus to catch the local ferry to Mykonos. Upon arrival in Mykonos, we will be transferred to our hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day free at leisure. Meals: Breakfast
