Upon arrival at Athens Airport, you will be met by a welcome assistant and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay in Athens.
Today is dedicated to exploring the City of Athens. We begin with a panoramic tour to the most important monuments and landmarks of the city including the Panathinaikos Stadium, the Zappeion, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, Syntagma Square, the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann's House, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and the Old Parliament. Next, we head for a guided visit to the Acropolis including the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion. Our guided visit continues to the Acropolis Museum, which was voted as one of the best museums in the world. The remainder of the afternoon at leisure to explore Pláka, the picturesque old part of the city and enjoy shopping at Ermou Street. Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast this morning, we depart towards the Peloponnese. Our first stop will be at the impressive Corinth Canal before continuing to Epidaurus to see its theatre, which is famous for its acoustics. Afterwards, we travel to Nafplion for a shortstop before departing to Mycenae, 'Rich in Gold' as Homer mentions, to visit the Cyclopean Walls and the Tomb of Agamemnon with the famous Lion's Gate. In the afternoon, we will cross the mountains of the Peloponnese arriving in Olympia for dinner and our overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Built on the banks of the River Alfeios, Olympia is beautiful, green, and placid. Enjoy a tour through the remains of the Ancient Olympia Complex (home of the original Olympic Games) including the Temple of Zeus, the Palaestra and Phidias's Workshop. We continue to the local museum, one of the richest in Greece, with its impressive Statue of Hermes of Praxiteles. In the afternoon, we start heading north, driving around Patras, over the impressive Rio-Antirrio Bridge, through Nafpaktos and Itea, until we reach Delphi for dinner and our overnight stay. Delphi used to be the most sacred spot in the world and a pilgrimage centre for many centuries in the antiquity. Today, admire the Sanctuary of Apollo, walk the Sacred Way, and visit the Temple of Apollo, which is home of Pythia (the Oracle). We depart to the local museum with the famous Bronze Statue of the Charioteer. This afternoon we will take the road back to Athens for our overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast
This morning, enjoy an early breakfast before being transferred to the port for a day cruise to the Saronic Gulf Islands. Our first stop will be to Hydra, a picturesque little 'vehicle free' island well known to the international ‘jet set’. Here, enjoy a donkey ride, explore the little cobble stoned streets and visit the Metropolis at your own pace. Afterwards, we depart Hydra for the Island of Poros with its Clock Tower facing the Peloponnese. Our last stop is to Aegina, which is a weekend retreat for many Athenians. Here, enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride or take an optional visit to the Temple of Aphaia. Make sure to buy some pistachios as Aegina is world famous for its production. Enjoy a buffet lunch served onboard. On the way back you will have to opportunity to watch and join in traditional Greek dancing. Upon arrival back to Athens, you will be transferred to the hotel for your overnight stay. PLEASE NOTE: During the winter period the company operating the day cruise may decide not to operate the cruise in case of low participation.
