Upon arrival, make your way to your hotel and take your time to settle in. Chur is Switzerland's oldest city the Alpine Town between the north and south. The traffic free Old Town with more than 500 shops is the largest shopping centre between Zürich and Milan. Overnight stay in Chur.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will board the Glacier Express, which is one of the greatest train journeys in the world. You will travel from Chur to Zermatt, which is a 5.5 hour railway journey across bridges and through tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2,033 metres. Travel in comfort through the unspoilt natural beauty of a landscape rich in ancient fragrant mountain forests, peaceful Alpine meadows, rushing mountain streams and mountain valleys soaked in tradition and centuries old culture. After breakfast, enjoy Zermatt or take a trip to the Gornergrat. Europe's highest open-air rack railway leads from Zermatt to the Gornergrat. The train crosses impressive bridges, galleries and tunnels. From the summit, you have a magnificent panoramic view of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and other snow-capped peaks rising above 4,000 metres. If you want to go even higher you should include the excursion Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in your programme. Afterwards, it's the end of services. Make your individual return journey.
