Pushkin is a Russian town south of St. Petersburg. It’s famed for the Tsarskoye Selo complex of parks and palaces, once home to the Romanov imperial family.
The Catherine Palace is the former Imperial Palace, one of the largest in the vicinity of St. Petersburg. The Palace is located in the town of Pushkin (formerly Tsarskoye Selo), just 25 kilometres south of St. Petersburg. The huge size of the Grand Palace is seen immediately. It is nearly 1 kilometre in circumference.
The interiors of the Catherine Palace are no less spectacular. The so called Golden Enfilade of state rooms, designed by Rastrelli, is particularly renowned and forms the focus of the Palace tour. The Amber Chamber is worth a special attention. This is a luxurious room of the Tsar, composed of a set of panels, baseboards and furniture made up of thousands of shards of amber.
Pavlovsk’s Grand Palace is a superb mansion once built for the Emperor Paul. It is the youngest of the Grand Imperial estates around St. Petersburg. It is well worth visiting both for the treasures in the elegant palace and for the charming, rambling park, which is one of the largest and finest English style landscape gardens outside of the UK.

The Peterhof complex consists of a set of Palaces and Gardens that are in the Gulf of Finland (about 30 kilometres west of St. Petersburg). Peterhof is known as the “Russian Versailles” and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you travel to St. Petersburg, this visit is a must do for your itinerary. The Peterhof Palace was included in the list of the Seven Wonders of Russia.
The Grand Cascade is the most grandiose fountain construction of the Peterhof ensemble designed by Peter the Great and is operated by gravity alone, it is one of the most outstanding creations in the world.
